About Yoga...

Although yoga has become very popular in this country in recent years, it is an
ancient practice originating in India, dating back 5000 years. The word "yoga",
translated from Sanskrit, means "union, to join or bring together". More than
simply a physical practice, yoga guides us in understanding the connection
between our own body, mind, and spirit as well as our connection to other
human beings and life around the earth.

The
core principles of yoga practice include safe alignment in Hatha yoga
postures (asanas), breathing practice (pranayama), linking movement with
breath, respecting your body's current physical state and working at your
individual level, quieting and focusing the mind (meditation), and rejuvenating
the body after practice in deep relaxation (savasana).
